I consider myself a Jill of all trades, master of a few. Growing up, I was an inquisitive kid. I constantly asked questions, wanted to learn about everything. I decided to start this podcast because I consider myself to be, while successful, pretty directionless, hence the long title of this show, “A podcast for directionless adults.” But this idea definitely didn’t come easy.
I’d been toying with the idea of starting a podcast for over a year now. I considered everything from being black in corporate america to relationships to pop culture, et cetera and none of those things really excited me enough to actually pursue this thing.
Then, like literally all black millennial women, I was watching Season 4 of HBO’s Insecure. I’ve always had this intense connection to Issa because I, too, have a tendency to mess up a lot of things in my life, even when my intentions are good. That said, Issa’s transformation really turned on the lights for me. It was like everybody was finally home and the pieces started to come together.
